Josh Norman didn’t stay in the free-agency market for long. The former Panthers cornerback will sign with the Redskins.
Two days after the Panthers rescinded the non-exclusive franchise tag on the cornerback, Norman agreed to a five-year deal worth $75 million with $50 million guaranteed.
Washington was Norman’s first free-agent visit as the 49ers, Saints and Buccaneers all tried to court the Pro Bowl corner.
A fifth-round pick out of Coastal Carolina in 2012, Norman had a career-high four interceptions, two of which he returned for touchdowns, and three forced fumbles last season. He also had 16 passes defensed to help the Panthers reach Super Bowl 50.
The Redskins and Panthers are scheduled to play in Washington on Dec. 19.
