One of the New Orleans Saints all-time greats has passed away. TE Henry Childs passed away at the age of 65.
His cause of death was a heart attack axcorrind to John D. Archbold Memorial Hospital. The hospital is located in Thomasville, Georgia.
Since 1994 the former pro bowler has been in the Saints Hall of Fame. This is partly because of his 3,224 receiving yards and 27 TD catches. He played for the Saints for 7 years and his receiving yards and TD catches rank in the Top 10 in program history. And second among their former and current tight ends.
In 1979, the year he went to the pro bowl, he had 51 catches for 846 yards that lead to 5 touchdowns. He was a go to target for Archie Manning.
Two years before his pro bowl season Childs had 9 TD catches which was a franchise record for 26 years.
Drafted by the Atlanta Falcons in 1974, Child’s played his college at Kansas State. His was a fifth round pick that switched to the Saints as a rookie. In 1981 he played for the Los Angeles Rams before finishing with the Green Bay Packers in 1984.
