MLB has handed down their punishment for Yordano Ventura and Manny Machado for their brawl earlier this week.
Ventura, a Kansas City pitcher is suspended 9 games.
Machado, the Baltimore 3B will be suspended 4 games. Orioles reported he also has a fine of $2,500.
Both players were fined but MLB didn’t release the amount. They both have also appealed and can play until they have a new ruling.
Ventura was suspended 7 games last season.
Ventura hit Machado in the back with a fastball. The ball was clocked at at 99mph. Machado then charged the mound, hitting Ventura in the head and causing both benches to clear.
Machado has played in 220 straight games and started them all. It’s the longest active streak in MLB. When he serves his suspension, his streak will be broken.
Adam Jones, Machado’s teammate says he will pay his fine because he was glad he defended himself.
