In the first inning of the Miami Marlins vs San Diego Padres game, Ichiro Suzuki has tied the career hits records.
With a single, at the age of 42, Suzuki has had 4,256 career hits. 1, 278 of those hits came before he made his MLB debut. The rest, 2,978, came while playing for MLB.
Suzuki is now tied with Pete Rose for the career hits record. Rose, doesn’t believe his hits that came in Japan should count toward the record.
With hit 4,245 coming in his first at-bat today, if Suzuki has another hit today, he could break the tie with Rose.
Congratulations Ichiro Suzuki!!!!
