Kershaw Headed to DL While Dodgers’ Trade for Braves’ Norris

LA Dodger ace Clayton Kershaw is headed to the disabled list.
Kershaw first received an epidural in his back but later had a MRI that showed he has a mild herniated disk. He will not require surgery and was originally put on the 15-day disabled list. Now, a return date will be announced later on by the Dodgers.
To replace their number one pitcher the Dodgers’ acquired Bud Norris from the Atlanta Braves. Norris last pitched Sunday in Atlanta and expect to take over the duties for Kershaw on Friday against the Colorado Rockies.

Kershaw leads the National League in ERA so far this season with a .179 earn run average. He also leads the NL with a 121 innings pitched, 145 strikeouts, a 0.0727 WHIP and averages less than 1 walk per inning.

The Dodgers are 14-2 when he has started on the mound this season as well.
Along with Norris, the Dodgers got OF Dian Toscano, a player to be named later and cash considerations.

The Braves received minor-league pitchers Phillip Pfeifer and Caleb Dirks. Dirks is also a former Braves draft pick.

The Dodgers also designated left-hander Ian Thomas for assignment.
