Kyle Calloway, a former standout offensive lineman for Iowa, died after being hit by a train.
He was only 29.
Police in Arizona believe he was jogging on the tracks when the train hit him from behind.
“We are all stunned and very saddened to hear of the tragic accident claiming the life of Kyle Calloway,” Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz said in a statement.
Calloway was a second-team All-Big Ten selection in 2008 and ’09, was drafted by Buffalo in the seventh round in 2010.
His family pans to donate his brain to the study of the effects of CTE.
