For college basketball, a goal is to get the number 1 seed in the NCAA tournament. Now, the goal is even been if reached.
The D1 men’s basketball committee has announced that the team that is the top overall spot will be able to choose the location for its first- and second-round games from the eight cities.
The goal for the number one seeded team is to pick the location closest to their “home.” It could result an even better home-court advantage than before. But, now, the pressure to have the best resume in college basketball has increased.
The new rule will be enforced this season as the host cities will be Buffalo, Milwaukee, Orlando, Salt Lake City, Greensboro, Indianapolis, Tulsa and Sacramento.
According to ESPN the committee is also looking to revamp the selection process and should be decided by the 2017-2018 season.
So far, the front runners in the “way earlier” prediction are Duke and Kentucky as the have the top two recruiting classes entering the 2016-2017 season.
