Charlotte Out as 2017 All-Star Game Host

After months of Adam Silver expressing his wish to move to 2017 NBA All-Star game from Charlotte, the NBA has reached out to other cities about moving the game.

Adam Silver says North Carolina’s anti-LGBT law creates bigger issues than just where to play the All-Star Game.
Several other NBA cities have become options if the league takes the step, including Chicago, New York/Brooklyn, and New Orleans.
Last season the game was in Toronto,Canada, with the 2015 game being in

New York/Brooklyn and the 2014 game was in New Orleans. Chicago hasn’t hosted since 1988.
North Carolina legislature is on summer hiatus and unable to make changes to the law as NBA has requested.
North Carolina State senator Jeff Jackson (D) of Mecklenburg County told said that if the NBA moves the All-Star Game from Charlotte that it’s a “100 million hit to the city of Charlotte and the state. A lot of that money would go to schools, healthcare and roads. We’ve sacrificed all of that for Gov. McCrory’s social agenda. He would rather pander to his base than fix an obvious mistake that has major consequences.”

The 2018 All-Star game location is set for the Staples Center in LA with the Lakers and Clippers sharing responsibility for the game.
Once a location is announced we will update you!
