NL Home Run Leader Story to Undergo Season Ending Surgery

The National League home run leader will be undergoing surgery to repair a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his left thumb. Colorado Rockies announced today that shortstop Trevor Story will miss the remainder of the season.

Story suffered the injury in the fourth inning of the Rockies versus New York Mets game. It started with a headfirst slide into second and then he reaggravated later in the game while he was hitting.

He is swinging a .272 average with 67 runs, 72 RBIs on 21 doubles and 27 home runs.
Rafael Ynoa will replace him on the 25-man roster.
“Just very disappointing,” Story said. “Very frustrating. The timing of it all is the worst part of it.”
